We will take the first 5 weeks to break down the postures used during a flow class. We will work with pranayama (breath), asana (postures) and alignment for safety.
Week 1 - Breath, Child's Pose, Table, Cat/Cow Week
2 - Breath, Mountain Pose, Forward Fold
Week 3 - Breath, Downward Dog, Warrior 1,2 & 3
Week 4 - Breath, Balance Postures
Week 5 - Breath, Seated Postures and Twists
Week 6 - One Hour Flow class using breath and postures covered in first five weeks.

Flow yoga, in which movement is synchronized to the breath, is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. This style is sometimes also called vinyasa flow yoga, because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. The breath becomes an important component because the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. In terms of yoga asana, we can interpret this as a connection between movement and breath.
This 1 1/2 hour class will begin with a seated meditation focusing on breath control (pranayama). We will work into a short period of gently moving our bodies, which will lead to several restorative postures. Each posture is 5-7 minutes long, where props (bolsters, blankets, blocks) will be used to allow the joints and muscles to completely relax, allowing for a deeper stretch and opening. The session will end with a 40 min. Yoga Nidra (Yoga sleep). Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that will bring your mind and body to the “space” right before sleep, again, allowing for complete relaxation. You will leave class feeling relaxed and renewed.

It is with much meditation and thought that effective immediately we have decided to stop all live classes at Yoga from the Heart.
Our concern has been, that in times where anxiety is high, we want to be here as a means of stress reduction and connection to our community. It has now become apparent that having live classes would be a risk for all our students and teachers.
The teachers will be meeting remotely on Saturday to brainstorm with ways to offer live streaming classes or videos. Please watch the website (yogafromtheheartnh.com), Facebook or Punchpass.com for updates. Occasional E-Mails with updates may also be sent.
Beginning this Friday morning at 8:00 a.m., Sheryl will be doing a daily, gentle, seated movement and guided meditation/imagery class. It will either be through a link on Punchpass/website, Youtube or Facebook. Please check our website for updates.
We appreciate your patience as we move towards learning this new technology for providing on-line yoga classes.
